“It’s very taxing on the shoulders and your upper body,” he explains. “The G forces can be four times the force of gravity, so your head feels like it weighs four times as much.”
Beyond the physical challenges, Mardenborough also had to overcome mental hurdles. “I was afraid of making a mistake,” he admits. “But to unleash your full potential, you have to commit completely.”

“I did a lot of weight training to build strength in an unconventional way,” he explains. “I also did a lot of cardio, including running the New York City Marathon.”

Despite his success in real-world racing, Mardenborough still credits Gran Turismo with playing a pivotal role in his development.
“Without Gran Turismo, I wouldn’t be where I am,” he says. “It teaches you the racing lines and the tracks without being there physically.”

Mardenborough is now looking to the future of racing. He is eager to return to Le Mans and compete in races around the world. He is also exploring ways to create a new competition similar to the Gran Turismo Academy, providing opportunities for aspiring racers to follow in his footsteps.
“I feel that after the movie, it is possible to do,” he says. “You can actually make a career actually doing nothing in the real car and then using a platform that grants a career in real racing.”
